Еthnic village Nerezi

Situated on a compact plot, the project seeks to encapsulate the rich architectural diversity of Macedonian houses, presenting them not merely as static relics but as living, functional spaces. The concept is rooted in the idea of architectural architypes, structures that embody the essence of regional identity, craftsmanship, and historical continuity. Each house within the project is a curated representation of a specific Macedonian architectural style. Some serve as museums, offering immersive ethnographic experiences, while others function as economic entities, such as cafés, restaurants, and artisan shops, thus ensuring the sustainability of the village and its cultural mission. The project is not just a collection of buildings, it is a narrative space. Allowing the visitor to go through a certain historical period and meet the traditional architecture. At the heart of the village lies a striking contrast: a modern architectural structure which serves as a museum that breaks from tradition in form and materiality. This central building, designed in a contemporary language, acts as a spatial and symbolic anchor. It represents the dialogue between past and present, tradition and innovation. Its presence challenges the visitor to reflect on the evolution of architectural identity and the role of modernity in cultural preservation.
